Fitness and golf expert Scott Morgan really knows how to fundraise: for his first-ever marathon, he collected $10,000 for Children’s Hospi-tal of Boston and he’s been running and raising ever since.

Sharing his insight last Tuesday, Scott explained that his duties as general manager and golf pro at The Lakes in El Segundo have prepared him to meet challenges head on. Right now, for instance, he is gearing up for a showdown with Top

Golf, a firm that’s proposing to gut and renovate the current driving range and clubhouse. Having worked at clubs in Los Angeles and Hawaii, Scott is used to rallying the local com-munity. "If you oppose this, you should come to a planning meeting and speak up. The Lakes golf course isn’t only for El Segundo residents."

Outside of his work life, Scott works with Beach Bodies, a group that weds fitness with proper nutrition. He’s been

able to apply his fundraising skills to this endeavor, too. In fact, he’s teamed up with the LAX Hilton to house an event (including live and silent auc-tion) to raise funds for the original St. Judes Reserch Hos-pital that Danny Thomas helped found.

"All of my interests and skills have now meshed," Scott says. "I’m not the typical exercise and nutrition coach. My role is to serve as my clients’ ac-countability partner."
