Stand Up Against Human Trafficking
July is Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the United States.
Additionally, the United Nations has established July 30th as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, with this year’s theme of “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking.”
Children represent a significant proportion of trafficking victims worldwide, and right in our own backyard, with Los Angeles being one of the 10 cities in America with the most trafficked victims, resulting in millions of dollars to the traffickers. In the spirt of embracing these calls to action by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the United Nations, Rotary International District 5280 (Los Angeles Region), under the leadership of the Rotary Club of Rotarians Fighting Human Trafficking and the Rotary Club of Hermosa Beach, two important awareness raising events will be highlighted in the month of July.
